I don't understand a lot of this.
My site is just fine.
Although I don't have a lot going on now; it's always up, and always fast.

The domain is usually always accessible - it's the cgi or whatever allows the cgi that seems to be slow and breaking down. Sadly Ikonboard don't make their scripts in php!

I notice your domain goes straight to the forum. Is there any way I can do this? I've got a measly HTML redirect page (which search engines don't always like) but I can't see any way around it because cgi isn't allowed in the "httpdocs" folder

Cheers, Asa

Create a file named ".htaccess", and write this in it:
DirectoryIndex cgi-bin/path/to/your/board

And upload it in ASCII into your httpdocs directory.

Do you mean something like

<?php header("Location: http://forums.mydomain.com"); ?>

placed in your httpdocs folder??

I don't know which site you accessed. I'd assume it to be the SoftWareRevue one (a work in progress). The forum there is all there is. It is not a sub-domain.
I have a forum (another work in progress) at http://www.ServiceAll.org that is like the example above.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'll try them out.

How on earth my SHTML pages can load in seconds but not even a simply cgi script, I'll never know. :confused2

In the page where you first login, there is a button or something to add a new domain.

Just click that, and when it asks for the domain name type subdomain.domain.com

:)

First of all, though, make sure you have reserved space and bandwidth for the subdomain as they are NOT shared with the main domain.

To do this, go to the main domain and reduce the storage space and bandwidth allowance by the amounts that you'll require for the subdomain.

That way, when you do set the sub domain up, it isn't left with 0MB for storage/bandwidth!

Has anyone had their old dbase transfered over yet? Or better...anybody running vbulletin before and after the server switch fiasco using the same dbase?

Yesterday when I logged into plesk I noticed tha a new dbase was created for me (same name as before), but that it was empty  At this point (it's been two weeks)... I'm wondering if I should even continue to bother waiting for my old dbase to be transferred over or just do a fresh board install and apologise to my users for the loss of information

CGI is working fine for me, as it has been all along.

Just to be on the safe side; I assume you put the scripts in your CGI-BIN, and didn't try creating a 'cgi-bin' directory in your httpdocs directory? 'Cuz I know someone that tried that.

Is it just this one particular script that's not working - or can you not get any scripts to work?

If you have the correct path to perl, the correct new paths to all your data files etc, you have CHMOD 755 and they still don't work then I'm a bit stuck!

You could check one more thing, though...

Log in to the Plesk Server Administrator pages, then click on the domain name where the scripts are being run, then click 'Hosting', then click 'Next'. On this screen, make sure the options for 'CGI Support' and 'mod_Perl Support' are both checked.

I hope that's of some help, but it could well be something else...
