What is the server going to be used for? It is pointless having a dual xeon for websites that are not going to require this type of power. The dual xeon is going to perform better because it is two CPU cores and it is a server CPU. I would have to upgrade to 2GB memory on this one though.

Make sure you look at the network, a low/high-end server is useless if the network is slow.

Ask for a IP to ping, do some traceroutes from different locations etc etc.

Following on from Duports comments, also upgrade the hard drive from IDE to SATA drives.

I went for the MANAGED SERVER P IV 3.0/2 GB DDRAM/120GB HDD x
2/1000GB Bandwidth

I am pleased I did not go for the Xeon from e x i s t h o s t i n g ,put that in google and it just shows what nightmares people have been having from them. I was lucky as I was very close to signing up but did a quick google search.

Good one "owleyes"...

It's always good to research a bit before buying.. Checking out different forums and review sites really helps to make a right choice.

Good Luck!
Lea.

That won't make much difference, as most SATA drives are the same as IDE drives with a SATA interface stuck on them. You want at least WD Raptors in a Dual Xeon, preferably SCSI. ;)
