ComfyHosts are they still active

I at no time made arrangements with you for a Free Month due to "Downtime" as, was made clear at the time, was not due to any fault on our side. It was a Datacentre issue, which was dealt with as quickly and painlessly as possible.

Just want to comment on this part.

If your customer is having an issue and it was a datacenter issue - shouldn't you still be responsible? As they are hosting through you-- not with the datacenter directly.

Thanks,
Adam

Hi Adam,

It clearly states in our TOS that we will only refund clients for downtime where it is found that we are solely responsible for the downtime.
Mark would have, or at least, should have, read this prior to signing up with us.

I will also comment on the down time!

There was no HUGE down time other than the PREVIOUSLY ADVISED server change that lasted about 5 hrs.

However there was a few days in a row where the server went offline for 10 min here and there. I got plenty of "Service outage notifications" over those few days, and it was rather annoying trying to get anything done.

My Status reports for the server.

So really there was no MAJOR down time IMO :p

yep my server is sorted and it is nice and fast so far im rating the server not the uptime but hopefully i wont have any more issues and hope to be hosting this server with comfy for a while.

Dan I am not saying anything about your service -- from what I hear you supply a good service.

But you do supply the service to the customer -- why if the datacenter had issues and your customer had downtime would you not be responsible? I would think some if not most customers wouldn't know the difference between your or the datacenter.

To say that the datacenter had issue and it wasn't you fault isn't taking much responsiblity...

Adam,

At the time that Mark refers to is when the motherboard on one of our nodes went.
That was an unexpected and unfortunate situation and was completely and utterly out of our hands. Had nothing whatsoever to do with CWW, CompleteVPS or DeiseHost as a Network but was due to hardware issues at the DC.

Dan, When is an unplanned outage within your control or grasp? I don't see why the system downtime would be any different than if your network went down. That's not your fault, but you should still refund people. If someone hacks you, not your fault, but you should still refund people.

I have to agree with Utcrazy.. When is your fault?

I am more questioning the responsiblity part of this and not the refund.

At some people you have to still take responsiblity since it is the service your offering.

Thanks,
Adam

Wouldnt you be better off hosting on a network where you are cared about UT?
Its pretty easy to tell dan dont care about you from other threads...

Now that's not really fair at all. Dan does care about his clients, he just gets a bit frustrated because Mark likes to bring the issues here to sort them out instead of privately with Dan. Personally I don't fault either of them, Dan could handle downtimes with a more open-armed response, giving away free time every time it happens - but it's inevitable and he normally has remarkable uptime, and that's they way he chooses to run things. Mark does tend to get a bit frustrated and impatient with things at times, but that's also the way he works, he is very on the ball and (frantic in the best of ways) in making sure his services run smoothly.

It's different styles, and naturally they will tend to rub from time to time. And when they do, that's all the public really sees, you never notice something running smoothly, you always notice something not.

Agreed 100% Its a clash of personality and methods i keep seeing with these 2.
They should probly just aviod public interaction :p

I find that a very fair thing to expect.
What isnt fair is someone comming on here telling someone to go away if they dont like the service of a company...
UT should move so no futher issues with dan will arise.
I know both of em are at fault -UT should just move and Dan should handle public talking better with UT but...
UT should just move...

I think everyone is forgetting about comfy's clients here, which is why the thread was started.

Thanks Jan.
If Mark has issues with how I run things and he would like to publically address them, then he is free to open a new thread and I will be happy to answer any questions, address any issues and accept any suggestions etc.
