Computer Cooling on a budget

I've been looking at an Australian computer parts supplier... and i need to cool my pc, according to EasyTune4, my CPU is runnin @ temps of 70C

I have a limited budget, of AU$50.

This is what i want so far...

CoolerMaster XDream - http://www.pccasegear.com.au/prod230.htm
80mm Quad-Orange - http://www.pccasegear.com.au/prod571.htm - its cheaper than their other fans, and it looks cool
Fan Grill, Batman 80mm Black - http://www.pccasegear.com.au/prod951.htm - for looks

would this help at all to cool it down?

i was considering a Thermaltek Volvano11+, but i don't have any other case fans to get rid of the hot air

I'm running an AMD Athlon XP 2100+

ya, expet for the grill, thats for looks, not cooling :D

also, make sure you have a window in your case or you leave your case open (like me :D) otherwise there is no reason for asthectics if you cant see them :D

Volcano 11 is crap. Get something from ThermalRight, perhaps an ThermalRight AX-7 or SLK-700.

If you're using EasyTune, that means you have a Gigabyte motherboard, and if you have a Gigabyte motherboard, that means it's reporting temperatures higher than they really are.

....

well i'd still like a new fan, not for aesthetic pleasure, but to actually cool it.

i want the batman fan grill though :p

ok.. new idea..

what would be more useful..

1 case fan(1x80mm@2500rpm) and a new and better cpu fan(1x80mm@2500-4800rpm)
or
2 case fans (2x80mm@2500rpm)

The fan on a CPU does not make or break it's cooling ability. The fan really doesn't make too much difference. It's the material used and how it's built on the heatsink to transfer heat away from the processor.

Thus the fan means jack shit when it comes to cooling, aslong as it's decent enough, and couple that with a copper-based heatsink, it'll work very well.

My computer has a Athlon XP 2400+ chip in it with the heat sink that came with the CPU attached to it. Accurding to Easy Tune my CPU averages between 60 and 70 degrees C. It rarely gets right up to 70, Ie occasionally when I am playing games. Should I purchase another heat sink?

my cpu also a amd 2100++
i just use the original fan if u need to change i think coolermaster xdream is a good choice but u still need to care about ur casing because it is important too:biggrin2:

hmmm

I have an 1.1 Duron ( Which will be lewaving weekly ) and the cpu temp is usally some where in the 60 degrees tempreature area. I believe that your athlon-xp should not be in that temperaturea area.
