hostony.com (are they reliable and good?)

Their site design looked very good, until I saw that they had an uncustomized phpBB for their support forums. Very unprofessional of them to ignore the quality of their forums. This may be a sign that they do not value support as an integral part of their service.

conker, what has support got to do with the look of their forum??? :confused2 So long as they answer questions there, who cares what it looks like? Take a look at vBulletin support forums..are they customised?

Yes, Jan, they are. vBulletin uses their own custom design for their support forums--it's not their fault others choose to use their design as well.

The forum template is just as important as the design they use for the rest of their site. Saying the forum template isn't important is like saying the site design isn't important--which obviously isn't true.

It could be their forums are very new.

You're only helping me out. :p If their support forums are new, then that's only more reason to question their reliability. As consumers, we want reliable products. If they really haven't been around for a long time, then how can they be reliable?

Bruce is right. The design of the support forums is just as important as their site design. If they have not bothered to customize their forums, then it is likely that they care little for support.

"So long as they answer questions there, who cares what it looks like?" Well, we answer questions at FreeWebspace.net, but most of the responses are rude, harsh, and/or irrelevant. But despite this, we do get all the questions answered. Does that make us a top-class support forum? Of course not! Anybody can answer a bunch of questions, but support should be judged in the quality of the responses, not the quantity.
