Internet connection

There is something very wrong with my internet connection.

I wake up this morning to find that certain sites just don't load on my browser. I try connecting to google and a pop up told me my connection was refused.

This is one of the handful sites I can access, I don't know why.

I can't even access my own site. I really need help. Using a Aztech modem 512 kbps.

Go to internet options and click on advanced. Something might have come unclicked or something. Or try running a virus/spyware scan. That might help to.

True... that's the case for me half the time.

90% of all ISPS have crappy DNS. I use these:

4.2.2.2
4.2.2.3

Or if you want, run Treewalk, a lot of people have great luck with those.

Those two are ex-GTE level3 DNS resolvers. They're used by Verizon east in RI and CT.

Yeah I've been using them for a while myself. 4.2.2.1 - 4.2.2.6

The DNS hasn't been too bad lately... it all went downhill when they started offering the 3.0/768k plan in NY, but it's bascially ironed itself out now.

For Treewalk? I'm a big DSLReports.com fan there are tons of people who use it and recommend it. I've used it in the past, but the 4.2.2.2 DNS are good for me now.

Well there are a few ways I can say for sure.

I frequently visit other ISP Forums @ DSLReports.com and see the DNS issues they have (some that come to mind right away is BellSouth, Adelphia and Comcast). Not to mention that DSLReports reports on dns issues w/ other ISPs.

A user could easily get messed up and put the blame on their ISP, when in fact the issue is something different.

It isn't individual cases. It's county-to-state issues. The lastest one being Comcast, but than again, it could be their upgrades to CRAN network.

Such high numbers would have ment a huge impact on the internet.

Don't go thowing around statistics you can't back up.

Thanks for all the replies and conern. Nothing to do with the connections. I removed a virus (or something) using Norton and everything is fine.

I suggest you stop using Norton and pick up something slightly less popular...more often than not, Norton is the target of malware.

You can do what you want Star7 but my advice is go to grisoft.com and download the free version of their anti virus software and then go to microsoft.com and download their beta version of their anti spyware software. That is what I use to keep my computer clean. I agree with Mahoro. I would stop using Norton.
