New Computer

I need some suggestions on a MotherBoard for a new computer im building. I don't know much about Motherboards, so I need some suggestions. Here is what im planning to get:

I've had good experiences with Asus motherboards, using one of theirs when I built my current desktop.

I'd add the few bucks extra and get a DVD Burner (which also burns and reads all CD types).

I like Asus also.. also, i might recommend this harddrive instead: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=22-140-151&DEPA=1 unless you specifically want seagate? This is a 200GB drive for only $12 more.. just a suggestion

I'd go with a 200GB, too; however, I would definitely stick with Seagate.

I've had no problems with Seagate or WD hard drives, go with what's cheaper

I'v never had any problems with Seagate and I don't know anyone that has, but I do know someone that had a Maxtor drive crash on them :shame: .

Don't buy the NVIDIA 5500 FX video card. 256MB RAM on that card will not be much of a difference compare to a 5200 or 5700. I have it on my other computer and it is not good if you planning to do some gaming with good fps. It is just an overclock version. Get the 5200 or 5700 instead.

GIGABYTE GA-8I915G Pro is a decent motherboard or any other Gigabyte or Foxconn or Soltek.

avoid the 5200 like the plague. if you can, 5700+

or aviod all the low-end offerings from nvida, go for a ati 9250, a very good card or the ati 9550 card. :biggrin2:

ATI still offers a little more performance for the $$$. Go with what's cheapest, but works the best for the price, especially if its a $5 difference...
