Suggestions?

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for suggestions for a site I need hosting for. What I need is:

50MB+ Space
2GB Bandwidth
30+ POP3 mailboxes
MYSQL, Perl, PHP
5+ FTP Accounts
Excellent Service

Most of my visitors will come from Australia and New Zealand so it must have good international bandwidth.

Some of the hosts I've come across so far that seem to fit my needs are:

http://www.exa-bytes.com/
http://www.rackshack.net/ but lacks MYSQL support :(

Has anyone done any business with the hosts above. If so what do you think of them?

What hosts have I missed?

I looked at Terabyte by none of their smaller plans support PHP, CGI or MYSQL. :(

I don't really need 200MB but if that plan matches a 50MB plan at another site then I'd consider going with them.

When answering a request, you must include
1. The URL to the plan
2. The price
3. Describe or name the features that match the original request.

Please follow the above rules, feel free to edit your post to comply with the above.

You shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, or a site by it's design for that matter either. Just because they have a poor design doesn't mean they don't offer a good servicd.

Hosters should know better!!

Any of you hosting companies read the forum rules here lately!!?
I wish hosting companies would respect the board here!!
There is another forum here where hosts can post their plans, specials.....
Philip,
Be sure to check out any potential host you may be considering.
Here are some other forums you may want to check out.
ALSO, you may try doing a search based on your needs at these directories, and then come back to forums for feedback.

Forums:
A big timesaver when visiting forums...use the search function available at the top of the forums...type in company name and past postings will result.

If the person specifically lists their requirements and if your hosting company can fill those requirements you may post. You need to post with the following:
1. The URL to the plan
2. The price
3. Describe or name the features that match the original request.

Hosting companies may only post a reply if you meet their requirements. Also, please ensure that you honor the original thread starters request. If they want for recommendations generally this is from another customer of that hosting company and not from the hosting company itself.

Any hosting company is free post a special or their ad in the Web Hosting Offers forum.

Thank you.

That for your comments guys :)

I was considering Tera-byte but then read this:

Be aware that even if you don't exceed (or even come close) to the bandwidth you're paying for, if Tera-Byte decides you're using up "too many resources" (ie, having too much traffic -- even though you're paying for the bandwidth), they will shut you down with NO warning. They will then tell you your only recourse is to get a dedicated Raq -- and then they will admit they don't have any spare dedicated Raq's. All of this will take about of week of waiting for replies (at one per day) before you figure out what's happening.

Bottom line is they'll shut you down until you get a dedicated Raq -- but they don't have one to rent you!

and this:

Within the last 33 days I opened two seperate accounts with tera-byte. With both accounts, they turned off scripts I was running with NO warning. To be clear, they did not turn off the accounts, simply the scripts that they said were too demanding on their servers.

The first time they gave ZERO warning even though the script was running for 3 weeks with no problems. That upset me, because if they let it go for three weeks, how about a 24 hour warning? Although I understand the need to ultimately shut it down - the script was a banner serving script which was VERY busy.

The second time was much worse. It was a classified ads script which was running for several days with no problems. I had run the same script on another server and no one ever said anything. I moved it to tera-byte, spent LOTS of time customizing the html output, etc., then they just shut it down. The script was not getting much use at all at the time they did it. As with the first time, it was only after I asked what happened did I get a brief note saying that the script was too demanding on their server.

I would think they have some pretty over-extended servers and I would warn anyone that is going to be serving anything other than static pages to be very cautious before proceeding with tera-byte.

Well back to square one. Looks as though you can't trust a host as far as you can kick them.
