I thought the same until I used Miranda, then my opinion changed.
Although Miranda doesn't look as flashy, I feel it is *far* superior to Trillian.

Yeah, GAIM is pretty cool too.
I just wish there was a Free BSD/Mac OSX port, as right now I am stuck with silly iChat.

there is a GAIM port to freebsd Im running it in my screenshot. Just grab the gaim source, make sure u got Apple's X11 thingy installed and it should work just fine
