Well, it arrived. It'll take a while for me to move all the crap from the other computer to this one. First things first, get rid of this PlaySkool inspired theme Windows XP is using.

I've got the regular windows back, the regular windows navigation back, the old start menu back, and got rid of all those annoying effects and animations. Now all that's left is to disable that "link" cursor that's overriding my browser's own, change the startup splash screen back to something tasteful, get the old icons back, and see if I can get rid of that little Microsoft logo in the upper-right corner of windows.

I looked around, but I've not seen any options anywhere to do any of that. Anyone know how?
 
you want the old ms logo back ? or no ms logo at all. I know its a gif file in your windows folder ive changed it before.
 
It has no purpose, it shouldn't be there. I want to be rid of it, or if that's not possible, I want to make it a plain gray rectangle so it blends in with the rest of the menu bar.

What's with these brightly colored semitransparent icons all tilted at strange angles? I want my old icons back-- the normal looking ones.



HP refunded my shipping since it was delayed so long due to the strike. Nice of them, that was.

Does XP not recognize double sided double density floppy disks? I tried a few and it didn't seem to understand what they were.

Does no one on the face of the Earth manufacture 5¼ inch disk drives anymore? It makes it very hard to use my 5¼ inch disks without one.

1. It will recognise them if you ask Billy.
2. I manufacture 51/4 inch disks in your dreams.
 
The guy from American Satellite should be here in a couple weeks to install my DirecWay two-way satellite transceiver I ordered last night. I'll be glad once it's here and running, but I'm going to miss my ole 56k modem. We've done much together, sad to see her go.
