With CSS it's like:

.down { vertical-align: sub }

blah blah <span class="up">bleh</span> blah blah <span class="down">bleh</span> blah...

Yeah, CSS is neater since you can hang other stuff on too. This should look pretty good (*think*).

.up { vertical-align: super; font-size: .8em }
.down { vertical-align: sub; font-size: .8em }
