How will do you think this chip will perform. I heard it will be cheap to get multiple proc opteron boards.

We will see how motherboard manufacturers will support its SMP feature. Motherboards for Athlon MP are already hard enough to find, and less diversity at that...

64 bit == double speed of 32 bit processors?

Doesn't have to be speed. It performs better of course. It's PR rating is way above any other desktop processor.
