Your Views on Post2Host?

What do you guys think about posting for hosting? Yay/nay, why? Is it worth it to join or start one?

If your going to start one, be prepared you'll usually be paying out of your own pocket. There isn't any real income from it. If your looking for hosting, I'd recommend going for post to host as they usually don't enforce ads.

Like Schmarvin said, you'll be 100% be putting your own money into this unless you get huge. It's a hobby not a money making scheme.

True. I started my own post-for-hosting web hosting services. To just get even, you got to have a big number of clients, and of course, some capital to start a real real hosting service..

I think post to host is good for some type of payment for free hosting. i don't prefer it myself i would rather put ads and i guess that host would prefer that too. Overall i think its pretty good.

dude, I hate to say it but:

I personally hate people who take things for granted. For example, expecting free hosting for nothing in return to the free hosting service provider. I would never host that kind of person. Simple as that. lol

We use post 2 host to remove spammers, thats it.
You wont make money out of it.

I'm hosting about 60+ clients, holding over 120 sites, and I'm barely making a profit. Probably about $2-5 per month from ads.

Well yeah that's true why do someone host you for free. Okay you can put ads on hosted sites and stuff. But post to host is too much. And some companies have a lot of money and they can afford to give away hosting. Lets say Google starts giving free hosting. I don't think they'll worry about making money. And they won't have to even put ads.

Wow, your probably the only person to think that. Look at this:

1 client grows into 5 clients. Thats not bad, but then they grow into 25 clients. Still not bad, but it multiplies again, to 125 clients. Okay, if your giving out about 1GB disk space, they'll run out. Your basically saying that large companies have unlimited space and bandwidth. They don't, everything comes at a price.

No I'm saying that big companies have enough money to buy more servers and stuff. Hey think about free email services. Live Mail aka MSN is giving like 5gb of space. Gmail is like giving around 6gb now. And do you think they have only a few thousand users? I don't think so man.

Have you ever tried to use a hotmail account's quota? I have...
Im only at 2% of my limit to date.
Thats about 17 emails going in to my inbox everyday for the last 2 years...

Well its true that you can't use all of your resources so easily. Like I tried to use up all of my webspace and I could only use about 300mb. Yes, email services are overselling. But so do web hosts.

Its not impossible. Unless you want to make money out of it.

Here are my thoughts: they can certainly be successful, but I'd never use one. I'd rather just have ads on my site. As for starting one, I don't see any reason not too, if you can attract users. There are many folks who don't mind p2h.

i would be willing to get a tattoo (somewhere highly visable) for a high-end dedicated server whenever i needed it

but i'm not someone who goes for post2host, but then again i wouldn't mind. afterall, you aren't going to make money from a post on a forum are you.

If you know and you're not willing to share and yet you're posting in this thread, then you really deserve a -rep from everyone else because you're totally not being productive in this thread at all.

It's like asking for views on rearing chickens and you're saying that your chickens are plump and fat and delicious.
