I would start on shared hosting first.

First shared hosting is cheaper, but you would be sharing it with other people and most
probably be limited to space and CPU usage.

Dedicated is good if your site has got thousounds of users logging on all at once and would
be using more CPU resources then your shared host would allow. But you would be the only
person on the dedi server, so you can use at much cpu, space as you wish.

The bad thing is of course its alot more expensive then shared and you would need to configure
the server yourself or spend a fe hundred for a professional to do it for you..

I doubt you would ever need to upgrade to dedi with a news site.

Dedicated hosting will obviously give you much more flexibility, usually at a cost.

If you're starting off with a site and you don't already have very specific requirements, you're much better off with shared hosting.

Dedicated hosting = your own server this is good for site with 150,000+ hits a month

Shared hosting is one vps with 100gb to 500gb space and 5tb to 20tb bandwidth 1gbs to 3gb connection speed that everyone shares the hosting is normally using some type of reseller vps shared is good upto 25k to 50k hits a month

Dedicated server hosting- The dedicated hosting is suitable mainly for large business and more popular sites that have more traffic or those who need lots of disk space for files.

shared hosting- The shared hosting service is the perfect solution for the users who want to host multiple small sites for smaller business. The shared hosting is most affordable web hosting solution.and the best part is its low cost price availability for the users.

Dedicated hosting comes with a complete physical server that is dedicated to a single user. In dedicated hosting, the user has full root access to the resources and the resources will not be shared, so it is expensive.

Shared hosting is a normal hosting service and a more affordable hosting solution. The server resources are shared between the users. It is the best hosting plan to start a small business. But the full root access will not be provided to the users.

Dedicated Hosting-
  1. Resources are meant only for one user(Memory,Bandwidth,Ram)
  2. Dedicated IP
  3. Free Panels(cpanel/plesk) for Easy Access
  4. Full Root Access
  5. Hosting from a wider perspective.
Shared Hosting-
  1. Resources are being shared by multiple users(Memory,Bandwidth,Ram)
  2. Shared IP(Single IP assigned to all Users)
  3. No Access to panels, the hosting provider manages overall.
  4. No Root Access
  5. Best form of Hosting for Start-ups/beginners.

  • Server resources are not shared - As I mentioned above that in a Dedicated server there is no need for resources to be shared with other websites. You get the full resources of a single server, so you don’t need to worry regarding other websites clogging up the server’s CPU and RAM.
  • Enhanced performance - It the best benefit of selecting a dedicated server provider gives you a guarantee of maximum uptime of your website. Shared hosting is also not bad when your website has low or medium traffic
  • Flexibility - This is a benefit that I love that a dedicated server gives you the flexibility of customizing the server’s unique needs for CPU, RAM, Disk space & software. With shared hosting, I am limited to applications, software & operating environment.
  • Unique IP address - As you know that each server has its own unique IP address. With shared hosting, it means you are also sharing an IP address with multiple other websites.

In Shared Hosting, multiple clients are hosted on a single server i.e. the clients share the server’s resources. This helps reduce the cost, since the cost of the server and its resources are spread over all the clients/packages hosted on the server. Think of Shared hosting as an apartment complex. Shared Hosting is like one big building (a server) where hundreds of residents (websites) live. You have all the resources you need, but you pay less since you’re sharing them with multiple residents.

In Dedicated hosting, a server that is hosted by a company and only allows one company to lease and access it is called a dedicated server. It is “dedicated” to the one client and is not shared with any other clients. Dedicated servers usually allow the client to choose what operating system is installed on it and what type of hardware. In some cases, as an add-on service, the hosting company will provide administration services for the client, freeing the client from having to worry about it.

In case of dedicated hosting, a server is dedicated to one site whereas in shared hosting, a server support several websites.
Thus, shared hosting is cheaper but the amount of disc space and bandwidth allotted to you would be limited, since, it is being shared.

Adrian

In Dedicated Hosting you are given a physical server in which you have your own set of resources(Ram,Memory,Bandwidth) which belong only to you and you do get a Dedicated Ip, In Dedicated Hosting you are solely responsible for any abuse on your Ip,you do have the option of sharing your resources.

In Shared Hosting you are placed on a server along with other clients, where the Resources and the Ip is being shared,so the resources you get are limited, and drawback is that as the Ip is being shared if any one client is reported of an abuse the whole shared hosting clients would be effected.

If you believe your website might not require more resources then the shared hosting is the best.
Dedicated hosting for those who required huge resources. In Dedicated hosting, the server is your responsibility and the knowledge of the server is very required for good maintenance.

What is the biggest difference between Shared Hosting and Dedicated Hosting? A dedicated server hosting plan means that your website is the only site hosted on the server. With shared hosting, the amount of disk space and bandwidth you are given limited because there are others sharing the server.

There can be many factors while considering any of the platform for one’s businesses, one of the major factor is security which is more redundant in dedicated server as one has everything centered around one user, one owns the server it means he is the boss,no more limitation in bandwidth usage,Better Performance. They do not have to share space, bandwidth or any other feature with any other website. It is most suitable for websites that expect a heavy amount of traffic. Whereas, in shared server one shares the IP with other users,Slow Server Response Time, generally Server Crashes Regularly. Shared means multiple websites hosted in the same location. So, in a server, there are multiple websites sharing the space, bandwidth and so on. This type of hosting is ideal for small business as well as new webmasters who are trying out for the first time. It has some limitations in its resources.
To sum it all one can say that both the web servers has its advantages and disadvantages. It all depends upon the user’s requirements. But in a way a dedicated server hosting is always a better choice then a shared server.

The difference between the two hosting types is the type of server on which your website is stored.
  • With shared hosting, your website lives alongside others, which are neighbouring users utilizing the same server.
  • With dedicated hosting plans, your website has a server all to itself.
