I don't use Arch on my laptop anymore, just my server in my room I mess around with. They had a buggy Intel graphics driver in their repository a few months ago, I got fed up with waiting for a replacement and just switched my laptop to Xubuntu.
Guake is awesome. Just hit F12 and a terminal drops down like in Quake and Half-Life

Got a new setup going at home shown here. Both systems are software KVM'd together, so they share the same keyboard/mouse.
