It's not the computer power you noob, it's the sheer danger and purpose. If we really wanted to, we could. We've been to the moon and back several times already, and we've learnt all we can without setting up a permamanet base there. Why don't we you ask? Ever tried planning and building a self-sustainable living environment with minimal to no risk of death due to the harsh environment that is our Moon? No? I didn't think so.
The amount of money it costs to send someone up there is far more than building a little robot that could probably do the same thing. The 1969 landing was an ego thing, and the subsequent visits were because we didn't have the technology to autonomously do it. People, or at least astronauts to the rest of the USA, aren't expendable, at least in space. Robots are. Life seems to be important to NASA and the ESA, can you blame them for not sending more people to the moon?
