what you mean by take my subdomain?? do i just write telnet mysub.net-soft.de?? then how??

by the way Belgiumdude, your forum should be in the www dir(or it was html? :confused: the point it that not in the phptmp, i think this is for upload files to the server trought php, not very sure.
 
did you set up correctly the mysql database?? mine works perfectly... maybe there is an error in your configuration...
 
by the way..your link should be http:// web1900.selfmaster.de/forum/ and not http://web1900.selfmaster.de/html/forum/

But still not working ,this is what I'm filling in:

Basic Configuration

Default board language:english


Database Type: mysql 3.x


Choose your installation method:install


Database Configuration

Database Server Hostname / DSN:localhost


Your Database Name:usr_web1900_1


Database Username:web1900


Database Password:same as my ftp pas


Prefix for tables in database:phpbb_


Admin Configuration

Admin Email Address:myemail


Domain Name:web1900.selfmaster.de


Server Port:80


Script path:/forum/


Administrator Username:JM


Administrator Password: my pas (I can choose my own pas here right)


Administrator Password [ Confirm ] : pas again


So what's rang here because I keep getting the message: phpBB : Critical Error

ok, it was the easiest forum i have ever installed.

1. upload the board to html/
2. url for the installation will be
http://"your domain"/"whatever the forum folder name is"/
DO NOT INCLUDE HTML IN THE PATH
3. Go to http://server.net-soft.de
Log in
On the top press "Databases" (If its not in english please refer to gt14's post)
now press "MySQL" on the left
if there is no Database create one(this doesnt take a genius)
now either change the password for your new database or memorize it
4. Go to your installation URL, and in the "Basic configuration" make sure that in "Database Type" it says "MySQL 3.x".
5. Now go to "Database Configuration" and put in the following:

Database Server Hostname / DSN: localhost

Your Database Name: the name of the database you have/ created(if you are not sure go back to step 3)

Database Username: the username of the database you have/ created(if you are not sure go back to step 3)

Database Password: the password of the database you have/ created(if you are not sure go back to step 3)

6. Leave the rest how it is, except for Administrator fields, such as username, e-mail adress and password.
7. Click start install and it will probably* show you the config.php step. There it tell you that the config.php has been corrected and it will ask you whether you want to directly FTP it or you want to download it and FTP it manually. I suggest you to download it and then FTP it. It would be much easier.
8. once you downloaded it, upload the file to html/"forumfolder"/
9. Go to http://"your domain"/"whatever the forum folder name is"/ and voila!

*by saying probably i meant, that you could've edited the config before, and if you have, then it wouldnt bring up that step.

FOR DATABASE PASS, you have to go to your online control panel, and either change the pass for your DB or memoriz it, IT IS NOT THE SAME AS YOUR FTP, unless you already have changed it.
 
that error used to happen to me too...however i forgot what i did to fix that error. hm...i think it is an error with the database hostname or your changed your database password. Else i don't remember..Will try to find it out but i can't asure you that i will get it.
 
well, a nice hoster with nice problems :D

PS: Please,please,don't upload warez!!! I've heard from the webmster that there are many warez! please let it be, or the hoster will close the sign ups in a few days.
