If there were two free web host companies, and they both offered everything you wanted,(we can assume they are both reliable and have revenue) but one web host was controlled by 13-15 year olds and the other host was run by adults over 25, who would you go with and why? Would it make a difference to you?

Hmmmph.
Three things 16-year olds shouldn't talk about: sex, politics, and the economy. Chances are these teenagers are just sprouting off third-generation quotes they ripped off from Free Republic/The Penthouse Letters/et cetera.

The older people because they're old enough to have a decent job and afford the server. The only place a 15 year old can work is McDonalds on the weekends and that wouldn't be a lot to maintain a server.

yeah but you're still paying them money for your service, and since you seem like a young kid, I doubt you can afford this much longer, and thats why no one would go with a service run by a kid because there's a bigger chance of him being unable to afford it

(a) Older people know how to write legible emails instead of "Ur PrObLeMz WiLl Be SoLvEZ!!!",
(b) Older people tend to be more patient when giving support. They don't make comments about your brain or sexuality. Either that or they don't even bother with support. Either way they don't try your patience compared to 13 year old webmasters who think they know everything and more than you,
(c) Older people are greedy and free from idealistic notions. They don't give you every possible goodies in a webpackage you want because "Da InTeRnEt MuZz B FrEeZ!!!" and then die on you before you can even back up your files,
(d) Older people running FWPs don't come to this board and try to please the select minority here by offering PHP, CGI, MySQL, ASP, SSI, whatever hoping to be new F2S. They aren't 16-year old know-all Republicans/Democrats, and they don't come here bopping around like pink bunnies high on crack. Older people know that cheap people wanting unlimited space and full scripting freedom have no money, are all freeloaders, and are good only for bringing the FWP down with their abuse, warez, and bad scripts.

I have to disagree on that my son is 17 now but he has been working since 15 as hibachi chef at a steak house and he only works friday and saturday and makes over $200.00 in those 2 days so he could afford a server if he wanted too.

That has to be the most offensive comment I've ever heard. Just because we're not all old doesn't mean we can't write coherent sentences and make informed statements about politics and government. I'm 15 and quite knowledgeable about economics and government and I don't appreciate YOU trying to tell me I'm an idiot and irresponsible just because you're "older" Just how old are you? Why don't you go crawl back under the rock you slithered out from under...
And believe me, there are plenty of warez/abusers on free and paid hosts. Most of them are probably 20 year old perverts. So don't go blameing FWP shutdowns on young people.

LOL! I agree. I belive that very few that can't express themselves properly at 15 will learn later. Teenagers also tend to live at home, so they don't need as high income to survive. And furthermore I rather get f*cked by an idealistic 15 years old than by a 50 years old running some scam business. Perhaps I should add that I'm very old myself.

Let's put it this way: most teenagers won't likely have a reliable host, because most teens don't have the money to maintain it. Those who actually have something like dedicated servers are probably paying through Daddy's credit card account anyways. Maybe you can call that "reliable"?
From another point of view: I wouldn't trust a host managed by a 12 yr. old, but I would take the chance with a 14~15 yr. old's host, whether they're hosting off their buddy's servers, dedicated/virtual servers, or their own. Like, maybe the guy knows what he's doing at the age of 15, but a 12 year old probably don't even know how to register a domain.
One thing's for sure: most 15 year olds at this forum are quite mature and know what they're doing, they can think, they can do on their own, they're not stupid, and they're most definitely not high on crack. And I don't think anybody works at McDonald's. We'll see - let's take a little survey.
