So they lied to you about having submitted a ticket to their provider?

2/25/2008 4:57:20 PM support@geekrack.net XPLHost - Ryan No body is avoiding anything with you
2/25/2008 4:57:41 PM support@geekrack.net XPLHost - Ryan I will deal with burst not you

This is where support@geekrack.net is wrong. You deal with the customer.

Re: GR having 5 workers here - I doubt they are fully legally employed salary staff. Probably earning commissions on sales leads.

I'm sure GR is doing wonders for the majority of their clients but from this thread and incident alone I would say that support@geekrack.net should have treated the situation a bit different. No need to freak out just because he found out where you are reselling from...people aren't dumb. It's not like you were trying to spin GR off as having its own DC; so just relax.

And staff directly reflects the company so it has everything to do with anything related to the company. It can be argued and has been by many that HR is probably the biggest source of success and failure of businesses. Cross branding just gets messy...heh. Like MCT's post about GR, it would seem to be a good review for GR EXCEPT for the fact that he is working for them which makes me to takes everything he says about GR with a grain of salt.

Anyways, I feel heat coming on from the 5 GR people heh.

Let me add a few things regarding this matter. When the client ordered the server he stated via im that he wanted it setup for "openvz". He never stated an exact partition scheme that he wanted etc.

He then recieves his server and attempts to install HyperVM i believe it was and discovers one of the partitions were not large enough to actually complete this. So he opens a ticket as you all see here and i did inform him that normally we do charge for OS reloads however i would waive it for him and get it done.

Sent off the order to have the server reloaded, While the order is in process this client takes it upon themselves to contact burst. Burst then advises them there wasnt a ticket open for it. There was in fact a ticket in stating an OS reload but of course this could take time depending on new orders in que as well as other clients tickets in front of his.

I did express some dismay that Burst has been speaking with our customers direcly as a matter of privacy on our end. However i never stated that i was going to yell at the VP.

Prior to us actually getting the OS reload completed this client goes to PayPal and opens a dispute. At this time i responded to the PayPal complaint and contacted the customer via msn in which he stated he would like to cancel.

So of course im not going to reload the system and there is an open dispute on the account.

This user isnt going over everything that was stated via msn etc so in the next couple of posts i will post our conversations.

As i stated before he then opened a PayPal dispute stating that he did not recieve his item. I have taken the liberty of posting a screenshot for review as well.

(1:36 PM) XPLHost - Ryan: ok, well how about this, could you just add 5 extra ip addresses on for free?
(1:36 PM) XPLHost - Ryan: so i would get 10 IP addresses
(1:37 PM) XPLHost - Ryan: and the server for $49.99
(1:37 PM) support@geekrack: We only do addtl blocks of IPs by the 10
(1:38 PM) XPLHost - Ryan: how much does a block of 10 cost?
(1:38 PM) support@geekrack: And those are 5 per month

(2:10 PM) XPLHost - Ryan: so I am going to need it reportioned
(2:12 PM) XPLHost - Ryan: Could you make /dev/sda6 200GB
(2:24 PM) XPLHost - Ryan: Ok, i have submited a new support ticket asking for this to be reimaged an reportioned
(2:24 PM) XPLHost - Ryan: i also included what i need in the ticket
(2:34 PM) support@geekrack.net is now Offline
(2:34 PM) support@geekrack.net is now Online
(2:35 PM) XPLHost - Ryan: Please check my new ticket, Instead of a 200GB partition, i would only like a 20 GB partition
(2:44 PM) XPLHost - Ryan: are you there?
(2:50 PM) XPLHost - Ryan is now Online
(2:50 PM) XPLHost - Ryan has changed his/her name to "Ryan || XPLHost.com"
(2:50 PM) Ryan || XPLHost.: Hello, are you there, my msn is being funny
(2:51 PM) Ryan || XPLHost.: i had to sign on with the old vertion so that it doesnt act funny
(2:53 PM) support@geekrack.net has changed his/her status to Busy
(3:17 PM) Ryan || XPLHost.: yes there is
(3:17 PM) Ryan || XPLHost.: i said that i needed it reportioned
(3:17 PM) Ryan || XPLHost.: and i needed /dev/sda6 to have 20GB
(3:18 PM) support@geekrack: we don't re-partition them i can os reload this for you but not partiton it
(3:18 PM) Ryan || XPLHost.: but i need it repartitioned because i need the /dev/sda6 to have 20GB
(3:18 PM) Ryan || XPLHost.: could you contact burst
(3:20 PM) support@geekrack: They wont perform a repartition on it either they will do a os reload on it as well
(3:23 PM) Ryan || XPLHost.: well, im gonna need to cancel it and get my money back them, because i need to be able to run hypervm on it, and the only way that i can do that is by having /dev/sda6 reportioned with 20GB
(3:23 PM) support@geekrack: Unfortunately we do not offer a refund on dedicated servers
(3:24 PM) support@geekrack: You can partition the box via remote access or we can reload the os on the box and set the partitions that way as well.
(3:24 PM) Ryan || XPLHost.: yes, that is what i would like done
(3:26 PM) Ryan || XPLHost.: as long as i can get /dev/sda6 to have 20GB, i dont care what we have to do
(3:26 PM) Ryan || XPLHost.: repartition and reimage
(3:26 PM) Ryan || XPLHost.: i dont care
(3:26 PM) Ryan || XPLHost.: but i just cannot be waiting around on it, i need this done
(3:28 PM) support@geekrack: This will be carried out in the order it was recieved, give me the exact listing on how you want the server partitioned
(3:30 PM) Ryan || XPLHost.: the "/" partion needs to be 20 gb
(3:30 PM) Ryan || XPLHost.: then the /vz drive can have all the unneeded space
(3:31 PM) Ryan || XPLHost.: then just leave the other partitions the standard size
(3:31 PM) Ryan || XPLHost.: so basicaly i need the following...
(3:31 PM) Ryan || XPLHost.: the "/" partion needs to be 20 gb
everything else needs to be the standard
(3:32 PM) support@geekrack: Please send me the exact partitionig scheme that you want set so that it will be done correctly
(3:33 PM) Ryan || XPLHost.: i want...
the "/" partion needs to be 20 gb
everything else needs to be the standard

Code:
(3:54 PM) Ryan || XPLHost.: how long are you guessing it will take to do this?
(3:54 PM) Ryan || XPLHost.: just so that i have a heads up
(3:54 PM) Ryan || XPLHost.: time
(3:56 PM) support@geekrack: More than likely it will be completed first thing in the morning

(2:58 PM) XPLHost - Ryan: it's just really holding me back
(3:00 PM) support@geekrack: You could have easily modded the partition if you do not wish to wait on the reload. We wouldnt do this for you however it can be done.
(3:35 PM) support@geekrack: With your claim i take it you want to cancel the reformat correct

Session Start: Monday, February 25, 2008
support@geekrack.net (support@geekrack.net)
XPLHost - Ryan (ryan@xplhost.com)
(7:33 PM) XPLHost - Ryan: Yes, Im going to need to order from some other place where i can get support a little quicker
(8:00 PM) support@geekrack: Ok

So they lied to you about having submitted a ticket to their provider?

This is where support@geekrack.net is wrong. You deal with the customer.

Re: GR having 5 workers here - I doubt they are fully legally employed salary staff. Probably earning commissions on sales leads.

We never lied to the customer about getting the OS reload order submitted. We placed the order along with the other 3 reloads that went in for that day.

We actually do have salary employees on board. We also have sales staff on board as well that work on commission.

People killing each other for a 60 buck server.

It just isn't worth it.

In the eyes of the OP, it's probably 60$ that could be well spent towards something else though.

Some think moneys everything, and in some cases, it probably is.

Also.

GR: Hope everything gets settled out, disputes like this over miscommunication is hardly fun.

Being honest about it, I personally feel there is a miscommunication or misunderstanding there somewhere on the OP's part. I am standing with GR on this one.
Also, I think Burst were completely unprofessional about the whole thing.
I have resellers. You won't see me dealing directly with their clients. If their clients contact me they will be told to contact the hosting provider or the e-mail is forwarded to the Reseller. That simple.

it is not about $60 bucks. who really cares about that. it is the reputation that is being hurt, and on a company that is VERY hard working. Yes, i do work with GR, but, if i didnt feel they were as good as they are, i would not work for them or be affiliated in any way. take that with a grain of salt all you want, but, i can no say enough good things about GR or Shequeita.

I don't see what GR has done wrong. They kept their professionalism to the highest level throughout all this (As opposed to the other parties involved).

I stand with you on that Justin, I wouldn't be working there for free or atall to add to the matter if i didn't enjoy working with shequeita and all the other staff working here.

GR just resells for Burst.net, they aren't really the ones on trial if they did submit the ticket.

What were those chat logs of? MSN? or your live support thing through your website?

Well at least now we've heard from both sides. To the OP, I don't think paypal will be on your side on this one. Anyways, I guess the OP is a tad more pissed about the fact that he didn't get 24/7 support?

Anyways, I'll still consider GR for future business but I've decided to go with other companies for my dedicated needs for the time being.

Reading through everything, I'm standing fast with GeekRack. Like Dan said, they are very professional through this and their reseller were the ones who weren't. They should at least weed out that rat lol...

GeekRack tries their hardest to provide the best service they can. They will always have some people who do not like their services. But as far as i can see they provided amazing services. Who ever comes to me for dedicated or vps, they are one of my two trusted providers.

GeekRack keep up the great work. I'm standing fast with you!
